“Colectiv”, de Alexander Nanau, a fost desemnat cel mai bun documentar al anului 2020 de Toronto Film Critics Association și de London Critics’ Circle. Ambele asociații de critici au desemnat „Nomadland”, de Chloe Zhao, cel mai bun film al anului 2020.

Documentarul „Colectiv”, prezentat în premieră la Festivalul de Film de la Veneția din 2019, își continuă astfel parcursul ascendent în acest sezon al premiilor cinematografice. Acesta este propunerea României pentru o nominalizare la premiul Oscar pentru cel mai bun lungmetraj internațional în 2021, gala urmând să aibă loc pe 25 aprilie. „Colectiv” spune povestea primului an de după incendiul din clubul Colectiv, care a avut loc pe 30 octombrie 2015. Urmărind jurnaliști, victime și oficiali guvernamentali, documentarul oferă o prezentare a impactului puternic pe care îl are jurnalismul de investigație.

Cea de-a 41-a gală a London Critics’ Circle Film Awards a avut loc duminică seară, în format virtual, iar marele câștigător a fost drama americană regizată de Chloe Zhao. În afară de premiul pentru cel mai bun film, pelicula a fost premiată pentru scenariu și pentru cel mai bun rol principal feminin, acordat lui Frances McDormand.

Un alt film care a primit mai multe trofee a fost horrorul psihologic britanic „Saint Maud”. Acesta a primit premiile pentru cel mai bun film britanic/ irlandez, cea mai bună actriță britanică (Morydd Clark) și cel mai bun scenarist-regizor debutant britanic (Rose Glass).

Premiul pentru cel mai bun regizor i-a revenit lui Steve McQueen, pentru „Small Axe”, cel pentru cel mai bun actor, regretatului Chadwick Boseman („Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), iar cel pentru cel mai bun actor britanic, lui Riz Ahmed („Sound of Metal” și „Mogul Mowgli”), potrivit The Hollywood Reporter.

Multe dintre alegerile Asociației Criticilor din Toronto au coincis cu cele ale London Critics’ Circle

Astfel, Riz Ahmed și Frances McDormand au fost desemnați cei mai buni actori. În schimb, Chloe Zhao a fost cea care a primit premiul pentru regie, iar trofeul pentru cel mai bun scenariu l-a primit Lee Isaac Chung, pentru „Minari”.

Cea de-a 25-a ediție a premiilor Asociației criticilor din Toronto a avut loc duminică seară, în același format online, câștigătorii fiind anunțați pe Twitter.
