Următorul “Superman” va fi unul de culoare, iar regizorul și scenaristul vor fi și ei la fel, potrivit unor surse din industrie. Inițial, se zvonise că actorul Michael B. Jordan este în cărți pentru partitura supereroului, iar acesta a spus “că este flatat să știe că este inclus în discuții pentru asemenea rol”.

Potrivit publicației The Hollywood Reporter, este foarte posibil ca, în același timp, să fie ales un actor mai puțin cunoscut, așa cum s-a întâmplat în 2006, când Brandon Routh a fost eroul principal în producția “Superman Returns”.

Pentru moment, nu s-au stabilit numele oficiale implicate în următorul proiect, însă Ta-Nehisi Coates, autorul care a dezvoltat lumea Wakanda pentru Marvel, se ocupă de scrierea scenariului pe care îl va preda mai marilor de la Warner Bros. în luna decembrie. Autorul este cunoscut pentru “Between the World and Me”, “The Beautiful Struggle” si “We Were Eight Years in Power”.

Deși un “Superman” de culoare va fi o premieră pe marile ecrane, aceasta nu este pentru prima dată când este prezentat astfel. Personajul numit Calvin Ellis a fost prezentat pentru prima oară în producția din 2009 intitulată “Final Crisis 7”, ca fiind un “Superman” dintr-un univers paralel, de pe “Earth 23”, identitatea lui civilă fiind cea a președintelui Statelor Unite ale Americii. Autorul cărții după care a fost realizată adaptarea, Grant Morrison, a precizat că “a fost inspirat de fostul președinte al SUA Barack Obama în crearea personajului”. Însă nu există niciun indiciu că tot în acest fel va fi și versiunea scenariului scris de Coates, potrivit Daily Mail.

Actorii care au jucat până acum rolul lui Superman sunt Christopher Reeve, Tom Welling, în “Smallville”, și Dean Cain, în “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman”. Cea mai recentă apariție a lui Superman pe marile ecrane a fost în producția din 2017 “Justice League”, unde personajul a fost jucat de Henry Cavill.

Printre cei care ar putea fi la cârma noului proiect se află regizorii de culoare Barry Jenkins, Ryan Coogler, Steven Caple Jr., J.D. Dillard, Regina King și Shaka King.
