Anthony McCarten, scenaristul filmului „Bohemian Rhapsody”, despre solistul trupei rock Queen, a intentat un proces producătorului Graham King și companiei de producție a acestuia, GK Films.

Potrivit Deadline, McCarten acuză o încălcare a termenilor contractului încheiat cu casa de producție privind banii datorați pentru filmul despre Freddie Mercury, lansat în 2018, în care Rami Malek îl joacă pe regretatul lider al trupei Queen. Deși nu a fost tocmai pe placul criticilor, a primit patru premii Oscar, pentru cel mai bun actor, cel mai bun montaj video, cel mai bun montaj de sunet și cel mai bun mixaj de sunet.

Se crede că proiectul regizat de Bryan Singer a avut un buget de 55 de milioane de dolari și încasări de 911 milioane de dolari la nivel mondial. Cu toate acestea, conform Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, producția filmului s-a ridicat la „51 de milioane de dolari”.

McCarten susține că a încheiat o înțelegere pentru a primi 5% din încasările GK Films generate de „Bohemian Rhapsody”. Scenaristul afirmă că nu a fost încă plătit cu nimic din înțelegere, iar King nu a răspuns apelurilor sale de a soluționa problema.

Potrivit documentelor depuse la Curtea Superioară din Los Angeles, McCarten și avocații săi solicită „despăgubiri bănești într-o sumă care trebuie să fie dovedită la proces”.

La începutul acestui an, Brian May a spus că o continuare a filmului „Bohemian Rhapsody” este puțin probabilă dacă nu apare o idee deosebit de interesantă. „Am vorbit despre asta și, în acest moment, nu vedem o cale spre a face asta și, dacă nu apare o idee care să ne impresioneze, atunci nu o vom face”, a spus acesta pentru NME.
