„Black Widow/ Văduva Neagră” a fost desemnat filmul anului, în timp ce Dwayne Johnson a primit titlul de cel mai bun actor de comedie, pentru rolul din „Jungle Cruise”, la gala People’s Choice Awards 2021, care a avut loc marți seară.

Evenimentul cu o audiență live pentru prima dată din 2019, găzduit de Kenan Thompson, a fost transmis simultan pe NBC și E!, de la Barker Hangar din Santa Monica, California. Premiile numeroase au fost acordate în categorii dedicate filmului, televiziunii, muzicii și culturii pop, toate votate de fani.

Critics Choice Awards: „Succession” conduce în topul nominalizărilor pentru televiziune

Producția Marvel „Black Widow” a primit și premiul pentru cea mai bună actriță, acordat lui Scarlett Johansson. Iar Dwayne Johnson a fost desemnat și cel mai bun actor al anului, tot pentru rolul din „Jungle Cruise”. Johnson a fost prezent pentru a accepta ambele premii, precum și trofeul People’s Champion, care i-a fost înmânat de Jeff Bezos și pe care starul l-a acordat ulterior unui fan prezent în public.

Tom Hiddleston a fost desemnat Starul TV masculin din 2021, iar serialul în care a jucat, „Loki”, difuzat pe Disney+, a primit premiul pentru show-ul TV al anului.

„Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings” a fost numit filmul de acțiune din 2021, iar protagonistul său, Simu Liu, starul filmelor de acțiune din 2021. Coscenaristul și regizorul acestui film, Destin Daniel Cretton, a anunțat recent că lucrează la o continuare a acestui film. Și, pentru a menține trendul Disney, „Cruella” a câștigat premiul pentru cel mai bun film dramă din 2021, iar „Luca”, cel pentru cel mai bun lungmetraj de animație.

„Free Guy”, o producție Studios 20th Century a fost desemnat comedia anului.

Gala de două ore a inclus recitaluri susținute de Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton și H.E.R, iar câteva staruri au primit premii speciale. Astfel, în afară de Johnson, au mai fost recompensate Halle Berry (People’s Icon), Kim Kardashian West (Fasion Icon) și Aguilera (Music Icon).

Anul trecut, marii câștigători ai galei au fost „Bad Boys for Life” (cel mai bun film, starul masculin de film, Will Smith), „The Kissing Booth 2” (comedia anului), „Hamilton” (drama anului) și „Mulan” (filmul de acțiune al anului.
