Franciza cinematografică horror „Saw” a depășit pragul de încasări de 1 miliard de dolari la nivel mondial, după lansarea celui mai nou film, „Spiral”. Rezultatul este unul uimitor, deoarece filmele „Saw” au bugete de producție modeste, variind de la 1 milion la 20 milioane de dolari. De asemenea, filmele nu au fost deosebit de bine primite în rândul criticilor și al publicului, fiind încadrate de obicei în categoriile B sau C. În prezent, încasările totale se ridică la 1.000.799.533 de dolari.

Franciza a fost lansată de James Wan și Leigh Whannell în 2004 și are ca subiect un misterios ucigaș în serie, Jigsaw Killer. 

Cel mai nou film din serie, „Spiral”, cu Chris Rock și Samuel L. Jackson în rolurile principale, a debutat pe primul loc în box office-ul nord-american, în urmă cu 10 zile. Filmul și-a menținut poziția de lider și la sfârșitul săptămânii trecute, când a avut încasări de 4,55 de milioane de dolari.

Veteranul francizei Darren Lynn Bousman este regizorul peliculei, care urmărește eforturile unor polițiști de a prinde un ucigaș ce îl imită pe Jigsaw.

Topul 10 al peliculelor cu cele mai mari încasări în weekend în cinematografele din America de Nord este completat de “Wrath of Man – Furia unui om periculos/ Wrath of Man”, de Guy Ritchie (2,93 de milioane de dolari), “Those Who Wish Me Dead”,  de Taylor Sheridan (1,83 de milioane de dolari), „Raya și ultimul dragon/ Raya and the Last Dragon”, de Don Hall și Carlos López Estrada (1,66 de milioane de dolari), „Godzilla vs. Kong”, de Adam Wingard (1,43 de milioane de dolari), „Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train”, de Haruo Sotozaki (1,33 de milioane de dolari), „Mortal Kombat”, de Simon McQuoid (935.000 de dolari), „Scoob!”, de Tony Cervone (850.000 de dolari), „Dream Horse”, de Euros Lyn (844.279 de dolari), „Finding You”, de Brian Baugh (670.330 de dolari).
